Testing of Murray T.25 begun

One of the most exciting cars coming in the near future is definitely Murray's T.25. Road trials of this tiny three-seater have begun and it is likely to hit the road by 2012. The T.25 foreshadows a new era of tiny economy cars, which are also fun to drive, as well as a highly original manufacturing process called iStream that slashes the investment, factory space and energy required for manufacturing.

This exclusive photo from Autocar (the second one from the top to bottom) reveals the revolutionary single door for the first time. It swings upwards and forwards to allow cabin access for all three occupants. The driver sits centrally with a passenger on either side and slightly to the rear.

The T.25 weights less than 650 kg, thus having a much smaller road footprint than todays smallest production cars (the Smart Fortwo & Toyota iQ), and it is powered by a rear-mounted 1.0-litre, three-cylinder engine and six-speed clutchless transmission. The T.25 will have a better power-to-weight ratio than the average 2-litre luxury saloon.

A battery-powered version, the T.27, is also planned.
