First Aston Martin dealership opens in Greece

Aston Martin is seeking growth in new markets and as part of the companys ongoing expansion plans, Aston Martin has entered into Croatia, Czech Republic, Taiwan, Sweden, Poland and Greece with plans to open in Brazil, Chile, and South Korea.

The dealership in Greece has opened a few days ago and there are four cars in the showroom - a DBS, a DB9, a V8 Vantage and a V8 Vantage Roadster. Unfortunately, since I took those shots on Sunday, the dealership was closed, but I will try to make another visit soon and take some shots from the inside.

Horror: AM DBS tyres stolen after being jacked up on bricks...

"An Aston Martin DBS lies on bricks after having three tyres and their alloys stolen. It appears the thieves were rumbled as they started taking off the fourth tyre in London's exclusive Eaton Square in Mayfair.

The bill for the incident has been estimated by an Aston Martin expert as being potentially 30,000. Replacing the wheels and tyres alone could cost up to 4,500, the body repair work might be 3,500 and the damage that has almost certainly been done to the brake pads by not being suspended above the ground could cost 20,000 to repair."

Tata plans to build Jags & Land Rovers in China

Well, it is not a surprise that Tata is planning to build Jags and Land Rovers in China, as it seeks to cut costs and increase sales in emerging markets. Germans have done the same, but there is a big difference... no factory was closed in Europe.

You can read below an abstract from the article as published by Bloomberg.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tata will start Chinese manufacturing with Land Rover models and in the future, Jaguar and Land Rover  would eventually produce as many as 40,000 vehicles combined, Chief Executive Officer Carl-Peter Forster said at a press conference in London, declining to specify a target date.

Setting up production in China would require one to two years after the company made any decision on partners and a location, Forster said. The division will decide by mid-year on which of two plants in England will remain open as the company consolidates production, Forster said. The factories are in Castle Bromwich, where the Jaguar XJ and XK cars are made, and Solihull, where Land Rover SUVs are built.

Do you remember Murray's T.25 (earlier post)? Well, there is also going to be an electric version, called T.27.

According to Autocar, if the performance targets will be achieved, then the T.27 will be worlds most efficient electric vehicle. There are going to be six different interior configurations and the T.27  is being developed as a partnership between Murrays Guildford-based design company and Northampton-based Zytek Automotive, who are designing an all-new electric engine and gearbox.

The T.27 will have a low kerb weight of 680 kg, including the weight of its 25kW (33 bhp) engine, its single-speed gearbox and a 12kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The range is expected to be between 80 and 100 miles, a top speed around 66 mph, and a 0-62 mph acceleration time below 15 seconds.

The T.27 programme, which has been running for 16 months, is on target to produce a fully driving prototype on April 2011.

Installation of 4300K DRL LEDs

Almost one month ago, the new 4300K DRL LEDs arrived (earlier post), but unfortunately I was so busy that I didn't manage to install them up to now. Finally, yesterday I managed to do it, while I replaced also the H7 DiamondVision bulbs with the BlueVision ones (earlier post).

Although the photos show a colour difference between the DRL and the H7 bulbs, in real life the colour really matches well and I am very happy with the result! Of course, the 4300K LEDs are way better than the OEM DRL bulbs.
