I decided to partecipate in the Stile Italiano Giovani 2008 competition even before it was announced. It's a pretty cool competition for some reasons, one of which is that you don't have any strict brief & can do almost everything you want to.
The experience of getting into the top-20 2 years ago really helped me in deciding what kind of project do I have to do to be there again. It definetely had to be an italian car!.. From the other side, I had no intention to draw a sportscar, because, well..."how many more sportscars can you have in your portfolio?"... ;-)))
The idea to draw a Multipla was suggested by Dmitry Zyubyairov who actually had plans to partecipate too but "he couldn't make it..." (that was a Newcastle reference)... ;-P
Anyway, the car was drawn in trains, planes & sometimes kitchens again!.. The presentation was finished in one weekend when Spain won the Euro'08!.. (congratulations again, Carlos!!!)
Finally the project was chosen in the top-20 of SIG'08 and is currently partecipating in the Dream exhibition (http://www.torinoworlddesigncapital.it/portale/en/content_1.php?sezioneID=291&testoCompleto=1) which takes place at Torino Esposizioni. You can still see it there until the 23.11.08.
;-)))
Here's a short description of the project:
The main goal of this project was to revise the already legendary look of the Fiat Multipla but still preserve its spirit.
The concept was to keep the original seat layout formula with a new more characteristic appearance.
Compact external dimensions and huge internal space are some of the main features of the Multipla.
This feeling was ment to be preserved by making the overhangs shorter which makes the car look firm. The entrance to the cabin is facilitated by the suicide doors opening system with the absence of B-pillar.
